Good Morning Beautiful People.
As I am sitting here at my computer at Highland Organics, I am reminded by this photo at how important it is for all of us to stop and rest at some point through our day. So I would like to invite you to join me in taking a few quiet minutes this day by grabbing a cup of tea, or a glass of water, and sitting a spell. Ahhh.
I'd also like to share a link to a story about our farm, our work, and our lives with you. It is also an opportunity to share with you about the good folks that certify our wild Maine blueberry fields, MOFGA, the Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association. It has been an awesome privilege to work with them since I started farming in 1999.
I hope you enjoy this read in your quiet spot today or maybe tomorrow. Even if you don't read this article, I hope you just get a chance to sit a spell.
And if you were wondering what was happening in our fields right now, well we are still waiting for all the snow to melt in the back 40! The recent rains have begun to green up the grass and awaken the fields! In May, our fields will become alive with the sound of buzzing! Such an exciting time for us as we anticipate the coming fruit. Remember no bees, no blueberries.
Did you know that flowering plants, including dandelions, may be a weed to us, but it is food for the pollinators? This is an important food source for pollinators because it is an early bloomer.
